mom date

My twin sister and I met our best friend when we were five years old in kindergarden. We have memories of us dressing alike when we were in first grade because we thought we were sisters. We grew up together and literally did every aspect of life together. The older I get, the more I realize how rare it is to have a friend that you have known your entire life.

Sixteen years later and we are all still best friends and...we are all moms! We had a lunch date today and we found ourselves sitting and talking for 3 hours. Having them will always be such a blessing. And what is so cool is that Avery and Kinsley are only 4 months apart and already best friends (they just don't know it yet!) :) We can't wait to watch them grow up together and see Bryson take on the older brother role!

Here's to lifelong friends and starting the second generation of us!

What a treat today was! :)

a letter to avery | 6 weeks old

6 weeks old | December 26th, 2014

Our sweet Avery! I can't believe you have already been here with us for 6 weeks! Time is flying (just like people said it would) and we wish it would slow down a little bit. I am trying to capture every single moment I can on video and my camera so I don't forget one thing about these sweet early weeks of your life. I try to cuddle with you as much as I can because I know soon you will be crawling all over the place!

You are the sweetest baby! You are starting to "talk" more and you have the sweetest little voice. You are starting to smile at us which we absolutely love and you love to look around at your surroundings...especially lights. You love to just stretch out and kick those long legs! We have so many videos of you just kicking away! One thing we have been so tickled about is that you love to turn yourself completely sideways in the snuggle nest that you sleep in. It is the funniest thing! You are also trying your best to hold your head up. Your cousin Lawson has just about mastered it, but we think because your head is bigger (72nd percentile), it is taking you a little longer!

At your one month check up, you weighed 9lbs and 1oz (37th percentile) and were 22 inches long (88th percentile). You are going to be so tall little bird!! You are starting to wear your 0-3 month clothes which is bittersweet for Momma! I may be in denial a little bit because I put a newborn onesie on you yesterday and the sleeves were 3/4 length on you. :) You are getting so big!

Oh, we all just love you to pieces and are so thankful for you! We can't wait to keep watching you grow big and strong little bird!

Happy 4 weeks little bird!

We are so happy our photographer, Lani, took this picture! This picture was taken before we started calling her little bird and now this is such a special picture to me.

A letter to Avery

To our sweet (3 week old) Avery,

You have stolen your daddy and my heart little girl. Wow, have you rocked our world! Even though you have been here for such a small amount of time, you have been such a joy to us already! My favorite part? Seeing everyone I love, love you so, so much! You are surrounded by love and I hope you always feel that.

You have the sweetest little whimper and you hardly every cry at the top of your lungs. When you do, I know you are "starvin." (That's what I always say to you when you start to eat!) You crinkle your forehead when you first start to eat. Oh, how I love when you do that! You also let your arm fall down past your side when you eat which always makes you look super relaxed. You get the hiccups a few times day which I am not surprised about at all because you got the hiccups when you were in my belly a lot! I started feeling your hiccups really early on in my pregnancy. Your hiccups are the cutest.

Your feet look like mini versions of your daddy's! So far, the only thing we can tell that you got from me is your chin and lips! (My chin is actually your PaPa's chin!) Your eyelashes are so long which I'm sure you will love one day and your legs are long, too. I think you may be tall like your daddy little girl! (He is already talking about you playing basketball)

You circle your lips into an "O" shape and sometimes stick your tongue out when you make that face. Your cousin Bryson used to make that face when he was a baby and I always thought it was SO cute so I absolutely LOVE that you are making that same face! We love to just look at you and watch you make faces. You smile a lot. Even though we know its just twitches, it is the cutest thing we have ever seen! We find ourselves hovering our phones over your face just trying to catch one.

You sleep with your mouth open like your momma and you keep your mouth open a lot in general so we have started calling you "little bird" "baby bird" and sometimes "birdie."

You love taking baths! You never cry during bath time which I was very surprised about. I hope that means you're going to love the water like me and your daddy do. After you get your hair washed it always looks super blonde. I can't believe I have a blonde haired baby!

You love to keep your right arm up right by your face just like we thought you would. Every single ultrasound that I had, your little arm was always up by your face! It was a miracle we ever got a good picture of your face on our 3D's! You also love to snuggle on me which I cant get enough of. My friends who I snapchat (I'll explain this to you one day) get pictures of both of those things all day long! I will admit I kiss you every single time I pick you up. I just love kissing that sweet face of yours.

You hate to be swaddled! We will swaddle you and look back over a minute later and you will have completely come out of it and literally be sprawled out! In the mornings I like to put you in your bouncer beside the Christmas tree so you can look at the lights and I really would like to cover you up, but you always kick the blanket off of you. Apparently your daddy did the same things when he was little! I also think it is because you were balled up in the breech position for so long that I think you are loving getting to stretch out as much as you can!

Your MeMe and PaPa light up when you are around! It has been so neat seeing my parents be grandparents to you! What a special experience that has been. I can't wait to see your relationship with them one day! You are your Pappy's 2nd girl grandchild and you can tell he loves you to pieces just like he does Hayden. You will have him wrapped around your little finger too! Fun sleepovers with Lawson and Hayden at Pappy's is definitely in your future.

Your aunt Ashton is a baby hog which we all laugh about, but she loves you little girl! Your cousin Lawson was born just 4 days after you and gosh are we so excited to see y'all grow up together! Your cousins, Hayden and Bryson, love you so much! Hayden already loves taking care of you and Bryson just loves to hold you (mostly because he doesn't want anyone else to hold you). Shawn is so good with you and Ryan hasn't quite figured you out yet. But, nonetheless, they love you too, little girl! You have so many people who love you little bird!

I want to make sure I tell you how wonderful your Daddy has been! I never knew how much I loved him until I saw how much he loves you. When you were first born, we had to feed you with a syringe and put our pinky finger in your mouth to get you to suck it down. Well, your daddy loved putting his pinky in your mouth to help feed you and to help soothe you. That's a memory I will never forget. He also has been awesome at getting up at night with you and taking turns with me. He changes your diapers like a pro and he loves getting to feed you. He will randomly say while looking at you and smiling, "I just can't get over it." He loves you, baby bird, more than your could ever imagine!

We have been so blessed beyond words with you sweet Avery! We thank God every day we get to be your parents. Its indescribable how much we love you! So, the love God must have for us...wow! We love having you here with us and we can't imagine life without you. I pray you always know how much you are loved.

Avery Claire | Week 30

We had a growth scan this week & Avery is measuring at 3 pounds and 14 ounces. She is doing great and is healthy as can be!
She is head down now (thankfully!) which has actually relieved pressure on my sciatic nerve! Yes!
We are counting down the days until we get to meet our baby girl!

Avery Claire | Week 29

Days Down: 208
Days to go: 72

Movement: She is still quite the wiggle worm!

Pregnancy Symptoms:  This siatic nerve pain unfortunately has gotten worse. My back is starting to hurt now and my tailbone will hurt at random times.
Random fact: your tailbone starts to hurt during late pregnancy because your body is trying to prepare for delivery, so the ligaments that are holding your bones together start to relax which causes pain. Ouch!

Best things about this week: Our cousins, Taylor and Kam, are throwing us a couples shower on Saturday with Taylor and Zach!! We are ao excited!

Nursery progress: The changing table is in place with the pad and cover on top! We also have our diaper genie ready to go! (Thank you Ashlee and David!) We have also started to stock the table up with diapers, wipes, desitin, and powder!

Random facts about Avery this week: Avery is the size of a small cabbage! She is about 17 inches long and 2.9 lbs! In the next 10 weeks, she will more than double in weight!

My sweet friend, Morgan, came by with a gift for me since she knew I had a hard week! My favorite candle & body butter that she has loved during her pregnancy! So thankful!

Avery's changing table!

Avery Claire | Week 28

Days Down: 201
Days to go: 79

Movement: She is still quite the wiggle worm except for the day we did the 3D/4D ultrasound! She decided she wanted to stay curled up in a little ball and keep her arms over her face!

Pregnancy Symptoms: This sciatic nerve pain is literally the worst thing EVER! I literally can't walk without my right leg hurting. I am praying it gets better! Also, Avery is feet down right now and I feel every single kick on my bladder. Turn baby girl!

Best things about this week: We got to see Avery's face this week! She has Tyler's lips and nose! And, we are official in the 3rd trimester! Praise the Lord! We also got her car seat and stroller delivered today which makes me feel a lot more prepared!

Nursery progress: Her changing table is in the nursery now! We will post a picture when her nursery is completed!

Sleep: I'm sleeping okay except for waking up every 2 hours to pee!

Food Cravings: None!

Random facts about Avery this week: Avery is 2.5 lbs and around 16 inches long! She is blinking, hiccupping, coughing, sucking, and taking practice breaths. Her sleep now includes REM which means she could be dreaming!

We are so excited to have Avery here with us! I still can't believe we are only 11 weeks (ish) away from meeting her! Tyler and I are so excited to be parents and we absolutely can't wait to be HER parents! We are so blessed and so happy!

Avery Claire | Week 27 + 5 days

Days Down: 194
Days to go: 86

Movement: Avery sure is a wiggle worm! I love feeling her move and I don't think feeling her inside of my belly will ever get old.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Holy lower back pain! My back has been hurting this week for the first time and it is SO uncomfortable. The only thing that seems to help is walking which is definitely inconvenient at 11pm at night.

Best things about this week: This is the last week of the 2nd trimester! Praise God! Also, I am feeling when Avery has hiccups which has been so cool!

Nursery progress: We have bought pink knobs for her dresser and they are super cute! We are still on a crib mattress search!

Sleep: I bought a body pillow so it has definitely helped get me comfortable at night! I am glad I made this purchase before the 3rd trimester!

Food Cravings: Nothing in particular!

Random facts about Avery this week: Avery is about 15 inches long and is about 2.2 lbs! She has developed regular sleep and wake cycles and she may also be able to recognize my voice now!

Is it fall yet?! I am ready for boots & sweaters!
...And, November! :)

Avery Claire | Week 26 + 5 days

Days Down: 187
Days to go: 93

Movement: Avery is still moving a lot! Her movements are very visible on the outside now so I love to just sit and watch my belly!

Pregnancy Symptoms: My sciatic nerve has bothered me a few times this week, but other than that I have been feeling pretty good!

Best things about this week: College football started back this week & the Moore family is super excited about that! Avery and I are also road trippin to Charleston today for my friend's wedding weekend!
We also met with our photographer and discussed newborn pictures which was really exciting!

Nursery progress: Avery's bedding has been delivered so now we just need to decide on a crib mattress!

Sleep: I am still sleeping pretty good!

Food Cravings: Apple pie!

Random facts about Avery this week: Avery is the size of a cucumber. She is 14.5 inches and is around 2 pounds now! She is opening her eyes now and can detect light and dark.

In photo: 26 weeks + 3 days!

Avery Claire | Week 25 + 5 Days

Days down: 180
Days to go: 100

Movement: Yes! I started listening to music while I get ready & Avery absolutely loves it! She moves and dances to the music! :) She is definitely my girl!

Pregnancy Symptoms: I still have to pee all the time, but that doesn't seem like it will be getting any better for the remainder of my pregnancy so I guess I should just get used to it. Blah!

Best things about this week: Avery's crib is put together and in her room!! We also painted an old dresser we got from my cousin Megan white & moved it into it's spot in her room! We have lots to do, but I feel like we have finally made some progress!

Sleep: It's getting harder to get comfortable at night. The most comfortable position is on my back, but I am trying to stay away from that position. Maybe I will try a body pillow in the weeks to come!

Food Cravings: Nothing in particular this week!

Random facts about Avery this week: Avery is the size of an eggplant this week! She is about 13 inches long this week (crown to heel) and around 1 and 1/2 pounds! She knows which way is up and down now and she can grab and hold her feet and umbilical cord. The blood vessels in her lungs have developed enough to help them take in air and her nostrils are open now. -- Which is why they say a fetus at 25 weeks is viable outside the womb. :)

We love our sweet little girl and absolutely cannot wait to meet her in November!

Avery Claire | Week 24 + 5 Days

Days down: 172
Days to go: 107

Movement: Yes! Lots! She loves to move around at night & around 3AM! We can see her movements on the outside now which are absolutely amazing! Her daddy sure enjoys seeing those kicks on the outside!

Pregnancy Symptoms: I usually have heartburn at least once a day. And, as far as I can tell, it isn't associated with any food in particular. I hope Avery comes out with a head full of hair! I am also getting up to use the bathroom at least 3-4 times a night which hasn't been fun.

Best things about this week:
Nursery was painted this week and it looks so good! Thankfully, we had help from our sweet cousin Taylor Whitt!
Also, a sweet friend from work gave me tons of cute outfits for Avery!
We took a family trip to the Riverbank Zoo in Columbia and it was so much fun! We can't wait to take Avery there one day!
We bought her crib today!

Sleep: I am still sleeping well! I made the transition to day shift so I am averaging about 6-7 hours of sleep a night and about 9 hours on my days off! I am enjoying sleep while I can! :)

Food Cravings: Nothing in particular, but I still have an aversion to eggs.

Random facts about Avery this week: She is the size of an ear of corn (8 and 1/2 inches long) and about a pound and a half! My uterus is 2 inches above my belly button now (which I can tell because I have felt her movements higher this week!) Her face is almost formed and her eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair are all formed!

We can't wait to meet you sweet Avery

Showering Kinsley Elizabeth

We celebrated the sweet parents to be on Friday with a couples shower in honor of Miss Kinsley Elizabeth!

We can't wait to meet you, Kinsley!

PS: Come back soon! We miss you both already!
